Online Shopping is the New Norm
Online shopping has become the new normal for many people due to the recovery movement control order (RMCO) to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The outbreak has had a significant impact on everyone’s life. Millions of people are forced to change their lifestyle habits by maintaining good personal hygiene and practicing social distancing until things become better.
The challenges posed by the new norm have disrupted almost all business sectors, and businesses across industries are seen to be pushing boundaries and accelerating their digital presence.
Shift from traditional shopping to online purchases
A survey on Malaysian online shopping behavior in 2020 found that 82 percent of respondents shopped using their smartphones.
One of the most popular e-commerce sites in Malaysia is Lazada. The convenience and accessibility to products online, have increased existing online shoppers’ spend, and converted many offline shoppers to online.
Shop where you trust
While shopping online has its own advantages, be wary that some businesses are fabricated by people who just want your personal details and credit card information. Hence, we should consider buying only from retailers at trusted online stores.
Take it one step further, by contacting the business. If there’s no email address, phone number or address, that could be a red flag that it’s a fake company. Read the customer reviews as well, as this will give you more information about the product you are purchasing, how fast and efficient is the delivery process and whether there have been any complaints against the seller.
If the delivery is not successful within the timeframe given, reliable online sites like Lazada will cancel the package to initiate a refund within 5 to 15 banking days. They will usually monitor the delivery with the courier to ensure the package is delivered within an average of 2 to 4 days.
